Preparations are already well underway for next season, with Series Director, Paul Irwin, and his team determined to continue strengthening and developing MXGB as the one of the best domestic motocross championships in Europe.

The 2025 campaign, permitted by the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU) as the national governing body of motorcycle sport, has been a big success, with a significant increase in support from fans, riders, teams, industry and manufacturers being recorded.

In order to continue giving riders and teams a top-quality British Motocross Championship package in 2026, the following details have been confirmed:

• Race classes: MX125, MX2, and MX1 will remain unchanged
• Format: 8 rounds across the UK, each running to a one-day format
• Broadcast: All rounds will be live-streamed on MXGB-TV and FIM Moto-TV
• Registration: Registrations portal open from today and will close when full
• Schedule: Dates and venues to be confirmed after the release of the MXGP calendar

The registration fee for the 2026 MXGB series is £100 per championship class. Registered riders receive a guaranteed riding number, three permanent passes and three admission tickets to each event, and their details in every event programme.

Paul Irwin said: “I’m delighted we’re in a position to open registrations nice and early for 2026. The sign-up process is really simple and we’ve been working with Sport80 to ensure riders can secure their place with us very easily.

“We’ve undoubtedly had a strong 2025 – with feedback from riders, teams and fans backing that up – but the plan is to make 2026 even better. I think we’re establishing some serious momentum with MXGB now and that bodes extremely well for the future of our sport.”

The ACU British Motocross Championship (MXGB) will have a brand-new website from this weekend’s season final round at Lyng, in Norfolk – paving the way for a much stronger online presence in 2026.

As the new online home of the ACU British Motocross Championship, www.mxgb.co.uk will showcase the riders, teams, events, results, images, videos, social media content, partners, and the latest news from the re-energised series.

The first version of the new site was launched today and will be further developed ahead of the 2026 season by the ACU’s communications partner – Formation Comms.

MXGB Series Director, Paul Irwin (pictured below), said: “Having a user-friendly website which truly showcases the championship is crucial as we continue to strengthen the series and forge a strong community for British MX, reigniting passion for the British championship in the UK and further afield.

“I’m thrilled we’ve been able to achieve this within the 2025 season and have the new site launched ahead of the final round.”

Riders will be able to register for the 2026 season on the new website and there will be a designated laptop set up at Lyng in the Michelin VIP Marquee for those wishing to view the new website and register for the 2026 season.

As the national governing body of motorcycle sport in the UK, the Auto-Cycle Union is investing in the future of its British championships on multiple fronts. Part of this is the creation of a new-look MXGB website.

A new Trial GB site was launched in June, while a new British Enduro website will go live before Christmas. The main ACU website will then be re-launched in 2026.

The unveiling of the new MXGB website marks another important milestone in the ACU’s strategy to build a solid, sustainable and successful future for its British championships – many of which have provided a launchpad for Britain’s most talented competitors to become globally successful and highly decorated.

ACU CEO Matthew Edwards-Wear, said: “As the national governing body of motorcycle sport, the ACU celebrated its 120th anniversary last year. A lot of work continues to go on at ACU House – across all the disciplines and touch points – to ensure the organisation will be here for many decades to come and remains the organisation that the sport can rely on.

“We’re incredibly proud of the British Championships we run and the titles we award, and sustaining them is a big focus for us.

“Bringing a brand-new MXGB website online gives the series a platform to promote itself both domestically and internationally, and to celebrate the success of our riders and teams who motivate, inspire and entertain every season.”

In a landmark moment for the British motocross community, MXGB-TV is thrilled to announce its feature on FIM-Moto.TV, the first time an ACU series has been showcased on this platform. This collaboration brings the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship to a wider audience than ever!

Tim Lightfoot, president of the ACU, shared his excitement: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase British motocross internationally. With 74 years of championship history, this year’s series is revitalising the sport with full line-ups, record crowds, the MXGB-TV Live Stream, and now being featured on FIM-Moto.TV.”

The Motul ACU British Motocross Championship is about to kick off as MX2 World Champion Kay De Wolf joins the competition for Round Four on July 20th at the famous Preston Docks circuit.

After his impressive performances on the MXGP world stage, De Wolf will make a much-anticipated guest appearance in the MX2 class. He brings his exceptional speed and determination to British fans.

The Dutch star will face tough competition, including fellow MXGP rider Oriol Oliver. This promises an exciting showdown as the series reaches its mid-season peak. Spectators can expect intense battles and close racing as De Wolf puts himself to the test against Britain’s rising stars and established contenders.

I’m really excited to race in the UK again and line up at Preston Docks, said De Wolf. It’s always great to mix it up with different riders, and the British Championship has a lot of talent. I’m looking forward to a good day of racing and meeting the fans.

In an exciting development for riders of the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship, Stebbings Car Superstore is stepping up and adding additional funds to the prize pot for round 3 at Blaxhall.

Riders will benefit from additional prize money, with a structure aimed at rewarding all riders who finish a main event. The latest MXGB partnership aims to nurture talent from the moment they can walk or ride, as Stacyc partners with MXGB. If rumours are true, it’s not just the partnerships that have seen a surge in 2025; the entries also appear strong, with not one but two MX2 Groups taking to the line, all aiming for qualification, which only heightens the competitive spirit and creates some great racing. Additionally, the RFX 125 and APICO MX1 classes are set to feature a strong lineup of riders. The excitement mounts as we prepare for what promises to be an epic season of motocross action!

MXGB has announced that Honda is backing the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship in 2025. Having previously supported the championship in previous years, Honda’s renewed commitment is a testament to its dedication to the sport and its riders.

Honda’s involvement reinforces the importance of manufacturer support in the championship. This partnership follows Honda’s successful initiative of running the Honda Cup in conjunction with the MX Nationals in 2024, showcasing their willingness to think outside the box and engage with the motocross community.
