Lenoir on the box!

15 March 2017

Go Back After a tough first season in MX1 last year, 2015 MX2 champ Steven Lenoir scored his debut Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship podium in his first race since his team morphed into Hobbs Racing Kawasaki at the start of the season.

“Today was good,” said the Frenchman. “I had a good start in the first race and rode pretty smooth in second and every time third place was catching I could put in a little bit more. Jake was a little bit far away but it was my first race of the year so I had a bit of arm-pump.

“We all smashed into each other out of the gate in the second race so I didn’t have the best start and I tried to come back but the track was just gnarly and I didn’t like it at all. Every time I was into a good speed I was making mistakes so I just slowed down a bit – I was fifth so I was okay with that.”

Steven’s third overall finish was all the more remarkable given the limited time he’d had to get used to the switch from KTM to Kawasaki machinery.

“Last year we had a difficult time – the bike was not good – so it was actually a really good feeling on the Kawasaki but I only went to Kawasaki a couple of weeks ago so everything’s pretty new.

“I’m happy to start the year on the podium because we haven’t done much testing or anything yet so I think we’re going to get better soon.”
