MXY2 Qualifying & Moto 1

13 June 2010

Sadly, current class leader Bradley Pocock suffered a broken leg early on in the qualifying session which had to be stopped to remove the Sussex teenager from the circuit. When the session re started it was Gary Sharp (Drysdale / G Force KTM) who posted a scorching lap, two and a half seconds ahead of Albion Honda’s Kevin Townsend, with Jake Shipton (Poole Yamaha) and Connor Walkley (Team Green Kawasaki) following less than three tenths apart.

Sand specialist Tom Kelly (DB Racing Honda) could only finish fifth, but that is still good enough for a decent gate choice.

All change in the results of moto one, with Walkley grinding out the win from Rob Hooper’s sole Suzuki rider, Matt Burrows and James Dunn, who could only qualify 11th taking the lower step of the podium. Luke Norris (Phoenix Tools Honda) finished fourth ahead of pole sitter Sharp.

With Pocock now out through injury, there is everything to fight for in the second moto as the winner today is very likely to take the lead in the series.

Full details of the second moto and the overall will be posted early on Monday.
