Ryan Houghton sustained a broken femur and also broke a bone in his neck after the Rob Hooper Racing Yamaha rider was caught up in the first-turn pile-up in the opening MX1 moto at Blaxhall on Sunday.

Following extensive trackside treatment he was flown by East Anglian Air Ambulance to hospital in Ipswich where he underwent an operation on his broken leg. His neck injury does not require surgery.

“It was a very big crash involving a lot of riders,” said Series Manager Stuart Drummond, “and unfortunately Ryan sustained some bad injuries. The Motocross Committee would like to send Ryan, his family and his team its very best wishes and we all hope he makes a quick and complete recovery.”
