Brown in for Mewse!

16 May 2019

Scottish teenager Alexander Brown has been drafted into Roger Magee’s Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee team as a fill-in rider for Conrad Mewse in the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship supported by Pro Clean.

The 18-year-old from West Lothian will also contest European MX2 GPs for the team and will retain his place even after defending Maxxis champion Mewse, who sustained a serious wrist injury at round three of the series at Canada Heights, returns to action.

Brown was released from his Apico Putoline KTM ride following a typically generous gesture by team boss Dylan Brown so he could take up what is a great opportunity to further his career.

“First off all I want to thank Roger and the whole Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee team for giving me this opportunity,” said Brown. “It’s all happened very fast this week but I’ll be on the line for my first ever MX2 GP in Portugal this weekend. I am really excited to race against the best in the world.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dylan Brown from Apico Factory Racing for his support over the last few years and for helping me get this far in my career. I would also like to thank Putoline, Bryan MacKenzie, Talon Engineering, FTR suspension, Dyce Carriers and Drysdale Motorcycles and everyone else who has helped me get to this level. I am over the moon!”

It’s unsure how long Mewse will be out for. A dislocated wrist was initially diagnosed before further complications were discovered.

“What can I say after such a simple crash at Canada Heights,” he said. “I promise that I am now more motivated than ever to come back to an even higher level to what I have been this year.

“I wish to thank my Hitachi KTM fuelled by Milwaukee team for all the support that I have received. To all my well-wishers on social media, over the past week especially, I thank you one and all for your kind messages.”
