Gilbert's good to go!

28 February 2019

Go Back Josh Gilbert enjoyed a stand-out season last year for Buildbase Honda, improving from seventh to second in the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship MX2 rankings with a debut moto win thrown in for good measure.

We havenít seen the 21-year-old Cornishman in action so far this year but heís been working hard and is fully prepared for the opening round of the 2019 championship at FatCat near Doncaster on March 10.

ďIíve done pretty much all of the stuff leading up to this season that I did in the run-up to last year,Ē he said. ďLots of physical training and getting out on the bike three or four times a week so Iím hoping Iíll have improved again.

ďWeíve been lucky with the weather in the UK so I didnít end up going down to Spain and to stay in this country and still be able to get out and do your stuff works out quite well. Iíve been across to Jake Nichollsí place a couple of times for testing and up to FatCat Ė basically, Iíve been riding anywhere I can get to in the week.Ē

With FatCat kicking off this yearís championship, Josh has also crossed the Channel to ensure his sand-riding skills are completely up to scratch.

ďI did end up going to Belgium for a week at the beginning of January. I rode three or four different tracks but mainly Lommel. I wanted to get in the deep stuff so over there is the place to be but other than that Iíve stayed in this country.

ďFatCat is the first Maxxis round so I want to be ready. There will be a few GP boys there who are good sand riders so I need to be prepared and hopefully come away with two solid results. After this winter I should be just as quick if not quicker. Iím confident that Iíve done everything I can do to get ready.

ďIím feeling good and ready for the season to get under way now. I just want to get on with it!Ē
