Simpson V Searle!

08 February 2019

Go Back The mouth-watering prospect of former Maxxis ACU British Motocross Champions Shaun Simpson and Tommy Searle banging bars in this year’s series is just a matter of weeks away as both gear up for the opening round at FatCat Motoparc on March 10.

Shaun, who won back-to-back MX1 titles in 2014 and ’15, has committed to a full season racing in the UK after two years based abroad. Tommy, of course, took the title from him in 2016 by just two points and now the pair will start hotly-tipped for this year’s championship.

Both riders will receive factory backing with Tommy racing for the BOS Kawasaki team while Shaun has signed for RFX KTM – managed by the super-experienced Dickie Dye – and will race alongside Nathan Dixon.

Charlie Putnam will represent the RFX KTM team in MX2 and selected EMX250 rounds with Kathryn Booth racing WMX GP rounds and youth champion Joel Rizzi – fourth in last year’s MXY2 series – contesting 125cc two-stroke races in the UK along with the EMX125 championship.

“Individually and as a team we have been working hard to get to this point,” said a team spokesperson, “and once again we thank all our sponsors and supporters who have enabled us to get here and compete at the very sharpest tip of this fantastic sport.”
